and on the forth day jake gave it life!!!! for once i kinda impressed myself. after 4 18 hour days i took my buddys 1975 1.8L 914 from prety much stock to a whole other level. granted this thing is no beast but by close to doubling the power it scoots prety good and is now the way it should have been built in the first place. i havent been here in a long time but some of you guys may remember me.

overview.

engine-1985 rx-7 13B 6port engine

tranny-stock, suposedly the stockers can handle around 300hp before the explode, were good thare

radiator/fan-stock 1986 rx-7 radiator with a ford taurs fan and a mazda tribute overflow bottle

induction/exhaust-racing beat preped dellorto 48dhla side draft carb/modified racing beat header into two 3" bullet mufflers and one 3" hooker muffler

ignition-stock dizzy, MSD on leading with a stock 1986 leading coil, stock trailing ignighter with an accel super coil

fuelsystem-stock efi pump feading a surge can with a holley blue pump into a malory regulator

that covers the simple stuff. the actual fabrication wasnt that involved. for the radiator(the most complicated part) i just made a frame in the front and used sheet metal to fill in the gaps one the sides and top. mounted the rad prety much the same way it would be in an rx-7, its at slightly more of an angle but close enugh. i also mounted the oil cooler right infront of the rad, so far it cools great. we used 1.25" metal pipes run under the car to get the coolant to and from the engine, the dam thing swallower almost 4 gallons of coolant! for the actual engine mount i couldnt have asked for anything eayer, just made 2 90deg pieces from some 1/4" flat bar and bolted them to the factory engine cross bar. the only other thing that was even close to complicated eas cutting apart the header and getting it to clear the clutch cable pully but the only took some creative cutting and hammering. wiring the thing up was prety straight forward as well, wire in the second fuel pum, the msd and the trailing ignition and it was good to go. we actualy got it fired up on the 3rd day with out the headder on, nice flames on decell!!!

That looks sick. I have always liked the 914 but with rotary power it is that much better.

Nice! I especially like how you cut the 1.8 badge to make it 1.3!

i think your the first persont to notice that.....

That's defintely a cool swap, I really like 914's. The only thing I don't like is that nasty flexible radiator hose, but I don't want to draw attention to something like that when the rest of it looks really good. I noticed the 1.3, I didn't cop that you'd made it from a 1.8 badge though - clever!
