Hi boys.
How im only new here, I thought i'd tell you about my car. It's a 80 Rx5, running a 13b street port turbo. The turbo is a Garret TO4 on 15pound. It's my daily driving car. The 13b came from a series 5 Rx7 and had it fully rebuilt. New rotors, new housing, balanced sharft, new seals all around and street ported. TO 4 Turbo PacPerformance specs. Brand new big front cover with 4 inch inlet. All turbo, oil and water lines custom made. 600 HP EFI Fuel pump Surge Tank Two pre pumps. 42mm Waste Gate. Custom Exhaust Manifold. Custom front engine mount. MicroTech LTX 8 includes 4 coils. K & N air filter. Hi flow injectors, 2x 850 primaries and 2x 1280 secondaries Adjustable fuel pressure regulator. Gearbox: Toyota Supra 5 speed steel case, with billet steel lightened flywheel, new ring gear, 1 tonne steel pressure plate, new high tension bolts solid brass, 4 puk clutch plate 8.5"diameter. Balanced tail sharft with new uni joints. Ford 9inch diff, 35 spline axles. Alloy girlock fully reconditioned commodore calipers, with ventilated 10 inch brake disc. I've got a pic of her when she came home from the painters, and another of her inside. Don't forget, she not finished yet and i've got tyres on her now, 17x8 at the front and 17x9 at the back. The interior needs some work, but she's a working project. The bad thing is, I don't have Luis (RIP) to help me anymore. Thanks Mike |
Sure. It's just a stadard supra box with the mounts changed to adapt to the car. Had the original mounting holes position changed on the car. |
Not sure what year. Ordered it from my mechanic and he made the mods and put it in. He said it good for around the 500 to 550 hp. I'll probably never have the car running that hard anyways. I'm hoping once it's finished, to get it on a dyno and see if she get's to 400hp. |
NICE CAR!! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683894.gif https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683894.gif really freakin cool! where the fawk did you get an Rx5 at? i thought that they were only sold in foriegn markets since i've never seen one before in the states. did you import? and where from?
|
hes from down under...and yes very nice car.
|
Dayum dem Rx5 are uglee! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png
Speaking of which, look what I got today for $300.... |
I think it is in better shape body wise than my other one....
Came with owners H/B, dealer service records and all the vouchers & literature you get with a new car, in a plastic wallet with 'Toyo Kogyo' on it..... 28 years old! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif |
Pretty good for $300. Got the plastic wallet with 'Toyo Kogyo' on it too, but with no books in it.
|
Give it a wash, compound & polish today. Felt a bit weird doing that to a 'parts car' but she came up really well! I'm thinking the other car will become the parts car....
|
Looks great, but i'd still keep the other car and use this one as parts, The white one looks repainted.
Good job. |
Very nice! What's your guys opinion on converting mine from auto to manual? I've got a nice ribcase 5 speed and a Racing Beat light steel flywheel. Oh, and a pedal assembly, clutch master and slave cylinders etc. What sort of performance can I expect?
|
Don't know about performance, but have been told that you loose about 15% of power with auto, plus manuals more fun.
|
It currently feels like you're starting in 2nd gear all the time. The tall diff gearing of 3.6something is probably the main reason.
Go the manual, much more fun! My gold car was an auto, I have a Gen2 turbo box in it now, ratio spread doesn't totally suit the BP though. Light locally made billet FW and a paddle clutch Off the line & mid corner a different car https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif Yours has a 3.6? !!!! Something they did for the fuel consumption laws in the US maybe? My gold car had a 4.1 std, which I destroyed thru sheer stupidity https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/angry.png Manuals were all 3.9. A ribcase 5 speed would be a Cosmo/Rx5 or Rx4 GSII box? Strangely enough, before the arrival of the beefy Gen 2 turbo box the 'ducks guts' rotary setup was a piston 121 5 speed with the 13B bellhousing. The ratios matched the engine better in the Real World than the RE ratios...go figure! |

Good job.
They both have been painted. |
