hey everyone, 1st post here, I have done alot of research and have found little info on this swap. what I could not find is if anyone has acually done this swap? I have a 1991 b2600i 4X4 with a cracked head and i wanted to replace the engine (13b turbo) with something with a little power and keep the original trans/trasfer. If anyone has some input or info i would appreciate it. (buying the engine two weeks from today if everything goes as planned).

Thanks, Jesse

DO the swap, it will be fun! just a little mod to the input shaft, and a t2 bell housing and you should be in!

what exactly is the input shaft mod. I read somewhere on some different year trannys that the input shaft may be too long, is that what you mean? I am putting in a 13b from a 89-91 rx7 if that helps at all. I will post some pics of my truck and try to keep this post updated as I work through the swap. Thanks

Hey, I picked up my engine, trans, and wiring yesterday out of a 90 rx7. right now i've got the old engine out of my truck and the new engine on it's way in. everything looks like the engine will slide in with a few mods. One thing that i didn't think i would have to do is move the trans up about an inch and a half, this isn't for sure but i think the intake is going to hit the fire wall. no big deal though, the drive shafts have a slip yoke so i think i may be able to get away with sloting or redrilling the mounts. if anyone has any experience and wants to chime in i would be happy to here from you.

Thanks

[attachment=47482:IMG_0130.JPG][attachment=47481:IMG_0129.JPG]I know its a old thread but just to let everyone know this was complete success! Huge power with enough torque to pull my boat. Here are some crappy pics.[attachment=47480:IMG_0128.jpg]

Awesome! Is it still 4x4? How did you make everything fit?

What size boat are you pulling? I'm actually pretty surprise on the towing ability.

Jesse x2 01-28-2011 07:54 PM

yeah, still 4wd, it is a little stuffy around the fire wall but theres lot's or room up front. My boat is only a 14ft jet boat but it pulled it no problem, even through the deep sand, no prob. I did the complete swap in three weeks so the wiring is a little messy. The swap was not really that hard, i had to swap bell housings, lower my front drivetrain 3", and machine the transmission input shaft, other than that made up some engine mounts and got the rotors and tires spinnin. I love it! a little hard on fuel though.

WOW thats cool, i would have thought it to be a much more involved swap.
