I have a 12a powered VW bug. The einge is basically stock except for a Weber IDA carb on a ported intake manifold. Freeflowing exhaust with a custom header, racingbeat presiliencer and a Magnaflow muffler. With this much power, and only 1700lbs of car to push, this car really moves!!
For information in converting a Volkswagen Bug to Rotary power, go to my website at:http://www.geocities.com/zenjoe/vw.html http://www.geocities.com/zenjoe/Zenjoes6504small.jpg http://www.geocities.com/zenjoe/Zenjoes6503small.JPG |
zenjoe, thanks for making a diagram of how your exhaust is setup.

I belive that the 12a and 13b have that same bellhousing pattern, in this case, the engine should bolt right up. If not, Kennedy engineering has an adapter kit to fit it. So either way, you shouldn't have problems getting a 13b into a VW. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/BURNOUT.gif
Here is a picture of the 12a bolted to a vw transaxle. http://www.geocities.com/zenjoe/Engine_Tranny1a.JPG |

Nice looking Bug. I've got a '79 Kelmark GT with a TurboII in it. It took me three years to stuff it in there. One of the hardest parts was where to put the exhaust(no room!) Its 3" stainless steel with a racing beat premuffler and a supertrapp 3" in, 5" out mufffler. 1800lb and around 250 rear wheel HP. In first and second gear at half throttle it wants to bring the front wheels off of the ground.

Ahhh my two favorite worlds, VW's and Rotary engines combined.
I miss my 63 Rag. And my 68. And the 69. Hell I even miss that rust bucket 67 bus. And the 73 Fast back, the 74 Squareback and.......... |
NICE project a real class job. Most people wind up cutting the crap out of the VW to cram some overweight engine in there but this looks pretty close to factory.
I'll be doing one of these some day or another https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png Aren't the guys over at KEP great? Did a Pinto engine into a sandrail conversion with their help once. |
