Just picked up the new FD project and one rotor is low compression
#1
Hey guys, I am very happy to join the ranks of the rx7's. The first problem that i am tackling in my new fd is that one of the rotors is low on compression.
I do not know alot about of technical stuff about rotaries, but when its being started it does not make the wizzing sound like an electric motor. It still makes compression and you can hear it. It does not shake like a paint shaker .....
I dont know what to do. Im pretty positive that it does not need the full rebuild kit. Ive heard that i might need to pick up and gasket and seal kit to fix it or that an apex spring might of gotten stuck.
I know that you guys are the guru's when it comes to rotaries so i am coming to you guys for any help here. Thanks alot

compression test is in order... if theres a problem with the engine it comes out and apart, to put it back together you minimum need the gasket set, or sings and seals and stuff. and a clutch, and some vacuum lines etc etc

Agreed. Short of taking the engine out and pulling it completely apart, that's the only way to do it. You can even use a simple compression tester to atleast get a rough idea as to what it's doing. Youy should see three even pulses (w/ the check valve removed from the tester, that is).
