so i have water/meth on my "race" car now. wich i have set up with ambient air intake and NO intercooler.

but i have my daily TII that i want to add just water injection also. looking to push 12lbs. its all stock basically. just your normal intake, exhaust, ported throttle. little things. but no porting to the motor and stock turbo and ECU. body im not sure where to put the injector? i was thinking of putting in on the top mount intercooler. but i dont want to put it to close to the AIT sensor. and im thinking if i put it before the intercooler, water could collect on the intercooler fins and cause a problem.

also, i was going to use an M8 (500cc) . but im thinking this might be to big for my stock set up. my system is the cooling mist non progressive (basic). so when its turns on (around 5psi) its spraying full out.

any tips here?

I usually do an m1 pre turbo on those setups.

what is this injection thing on the turbo motors all about? granted im new here but doesn't that hurt things?

im not a fan of the pre turbo set-ups. i still see it damaging the turbo blades.

You need over 150psi pressure, and a check-valve directly on the injector. As long as its a fine mist and not big it won't damage anything. I have killed a few compressors to figure that out. You are talking about a stock turbo car anyhow, a used turbo is $100 and they are hundreds out there..

If not I would then run an m5 nozzel at the IC inlet..

well, from seeing how many you have posted up. you are much more experienced than me on AI. so i take pre-turbo injection into thought. i might give it a try.

when you say intercooler inlet... do you mean before or after the intercooler? i know "inlet" means where air goes in, not out. but you dont think water might build up in the intercooler fins??? this is what worries me.

So what if that happens? What do you think happens when you injector pre-turbo?

sen2two 07-12-2009 07:31 PM

i thought becuase when injecting pre-turbo. the nozzle is so small and the mist is so fine after being puched through the turbo. it might already be close to a vapor by the time it hits the intercooler.

couldnt water build up in the intercooler and leak back into the turbo causing a problem? or under boost it could push enough sitting water into the motor and cause a different problem?

sen2two 07-30-2009 08:00 PM

so everything is hooked up and ready to go. i just need to tap and mount the nozzle now. its an M8 (500cc).

last few questions...

would 500cc be to much water for a stock turbo motor? i will be pushing 10-12 psi.

-if so, should i run 50/50 mix? stock ECU...no tuning will be done.

with the chances of getting water or meth build up caught in the intercooler. would it be better to put it at wich one of the arrows?

so i went ahead and gave it some thought. and for the most part. answered my own questions...

This is how i inject on a stock TII and why...

heres some pics of how i installed my set-up...

I made a little mount out of aluminum and bolted it directly to the floor. mounted the boost switch and reservoir to the speaker tower. The reservoir is the stock rear wiper fluid tank. It sat lower than the pump and i didnt like that. so i mounted it above for gravity to feed water to the pump. All the lines were run up through the center of the car under the rug.
