When porting a turbo exhaust, how far down sould i take the port? to be flush with the exhaust sleeve? or should I go lower than that? If I take the stock port and grind straight down without making it wider or taller will it be alright? Any other helpful tips for porting exhaust would be great.

Also, is there a easy way to take those sleeves out? any tricks or tips? And once they are out, can I leave them out? I have seen this done before, just not sure if it was right.

Thanks

Joe

Ive been running without the exhaustsleeves in my current motor, for about 11000km now. With no ill effects or overheating, temperature is a steady 97degrees(celsius) even on trackdays.

I drilled mine out with a masonry drill, they are hardened so a regular drill wont work

To remove the sleeves I used Itos method. Use a MIG welder and tack weld on the spring pin multiple times untill you get a nice ball of weld on the pin. Then take your pliers and simply pull the pin out. Works great.

Thanks Kim and Mr. Hannover! Good info

i personally wouldn't radius that far down. it seems like you wouldn't be getting that much of an increase in flow and you'd be appreciably shortening the power stroke.

Do you get any significant power gains by removing the sleeves?
