I did a search but could not find the answer I'm looking for.



Beside the obvious in rotor damage what else can make a rotor be no good anymore



S5 TII engine.



I have 2 rotors that I finished cleaning. Upon inspection I found both rotors having a slight v-shape in the apex groove but only one per rotor. Looking for the top, you can see a slight more opening from left to right. At this opening you can also see a lip that has developed along the edge.



Does this constitute a fair to bad rotor which you will only be put back if you plan on rebuilding the engine often?

For a street engine, this will be not recommended? I'm better off getting new rotors, better life out of the engine?



I want to make a long lasting, reliable S5 TII engine for my Vert.

i think i get what your talking about, this is way during rebuilds people sometimes go to 3mm apex seals as the apex seal groove has become to wide to the 2mm seals so the get it tidied up and use 3mm seals..........does that make sence?

they do V, at the ends especially. basically you're apex seal clearance is increasing, unevenly, which is not good. the thing to do is measure it, take measurements, and compare to the specs. is it in spec? by how much? how long do you need it to last? how much power do you expect it to make? how much money you got?

3mm upgrade is an option but not going that way, if the engine was going to my track car I wold consider it.



The engine is going into my vert and I want that engine to be as reliable or better than stock, is going to be almost a daily driver. It will have a few upgrades, maybe tops 210 at best to the wheels.



I should just bit the bullet and get 2 new rotors and rotor housings.



I was thinking about taking part my old TII engine and see the condition of those rotors.



I also have the NA s5 rotors but that engine overheated badly, the rotors are probably blue and warped, huh?



I don't have an unlimited budget but I rather spend some good money now and not spend more later for a short lived engine.

most of the mazda remans are coming with new rotors and housings, its cheaper to buy the reman than it is to buy the parts. you just have to go thru the reman and put it together correctly

The CFO approved going with a reman but I have to wait till the end of the month. 2 rotors and 2 housing = $2000+ then seals and gaskets. Cheaper to get reman. Mike what are the prices for remans from mazda, I was thinking of calling Malloy but cheaping my be expensive.
