Hi guys I saw on a web site that there is a rotary
13b-rew engine and a 13b-re engine could anyone tell me what the difference is? Is one of them from a Cosmo? |
if i'm not mistaken, the 13b-re is from the cosmo.
the 13b-rew is from the 3rd gen rx-7 |
I thought it was the other way around.
|
re have different intake runners, manifold set up, and ecu set up
all the rotors, rotor housing are the same for the 20b, 13b-rew, and 13b-re so for those who have a 20b engine its ok to use 13b-rew housings. |

yea you guys are right
13b-REW in 3rg gen 13b-RE in the Cosmo the cosmo has a funky looking upper intake runner like a hand with its finger spread out. the 13b-rew runner are a better design. in fact some people are porting thier t-bodies to get 7-10% more flow go to rxforyour7.com for more info |
https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/ohmy.png the ports in the RE are much larger stock than the REW...someone had his ported rew next to a re . the re was not much smaller stock than the rew ported to hell....the exhaust inserts are smaller on the re tho..also the 13b-re was from an auto.. they share a very similar twin turbo set up.. and the re makes around 230 hp at 6psi and the rew 255 at 12psi. ..the RE is a better buy if you want to go totally custom on your ride...the good thing about the RE is if you go single turbo you can use a 3gens turbo manifold or a second gens....Im hip deep in doing a 13b-re swap into my fc.

The RE has WAY larger intake runners than the REW, as well as larger intake ports, but has smaller exhaust ports.
|
The thing I don't get is, doesn't the "W" in 13B-REW stand for the twin turbo arrangement in which case a cosmo motor would be an REW one aswell...
