I road race a 13B N/A motor in a single seat Sports Racer an would like to find out if anyone has an opinion on water temp. I tried a new rad set-up this weekend and water temp was 150-160deg F, oil at 180deg F. Can the rotary run too cool?

Thanks.

wow that might actually be too cool. the factory likes to run the engines in the 85-95c range (i think thats 180-200f). 235f/115c is bascially where it breaks. i would think that because all the clearances and stuff are setup for 180-200 kind of temps that thats gonna be the best place to have em, but thats my opinion and not based on anything more than a guess. i can see where you'd want to have some safety margin too

Actually, the 230ish F limit comes from the coolant, not the motor.

I saw a test on a 400hp Fd where they ran it at 85 C and it made 400hp, and then ran the same car at 75 C and only made 360hp.

Guess I need to put a switch on my fans, I am only seeing 60-65c with them on all the time because they weren't working. I am not boosting yet, but I don't think it will jump all the way to 80-85C. Where can I order a temp controled switch? What should oil temp be at?

With the stock dual oil coolers, you should have appx 5 to 10 degrees higher than water at idle. Once the oil coolers get air flowing to them, they tend to cool down quickly.
