Ok so I have my car back together and I put in the "stiffer" engine mounts from RX7.com and replaced the tranny x member bushings with the Banzia Racing poly ones. I noticed that from 2500-3000 rpms that I'm getting a vibration, is this normal? Should I start looking for a problem. I'm also seeing about 18psi oil pressure at 600rmp.

What were your bearing clearences?

What is the staus of the oil pump?

And yes, with stiffer mounts you will notice an increase in vibration

is it an s4?

DrifterRX 03-30-2005 11:46 AM

It is an s4, I don't remember what the clearnce was exactly, but it was in the middle for the spec.

The oil pump was in spec, but has 150K miles on it. I was thinking about replacing.

if you have the o ring that goes between the front iron and front cover on wrong you can get low pressure

The vibration is normal. I would definitely check the O-ring on the front cover. I would also double check the gauge by using a different sender and gauge.

DrifterRX 04-01-2005 12:35 PM

Ok well I'm going to be taking the front cover off over the weekend. I was wonder if theres a reason why I shouldn't just get a metal tube and make it go between the front cover and the front housing. Thread the tube and the housing side ect. This would eliminate the possable problem... I didn't do any searching for this on the forum so.

this is a hard problem to visualize over the internet. if it's bad enough that you feel like something truely is wrong, i would start at the easiest places first and work from there. check if your mounts are loose, driveline is within spec, possibly tires or other rotating components out of balance, ect.

are your oil jets installed? Dont laugh. A very well known builder sent me an engine without them

Seems like you may have tow problems..

Did you swap rotors or interchange them? that may be one of the vibrations or maybe its breaking up at 2-3k...?????

Drain the oil and look to see what color it is and if there are gold particles in it then get back to us..
