Hi, been a long time since I posted in this forum but thought I would share some pics of my various fabrication projects on my SP RX7
Well here is the turbo support. http://img132.imageshack.us/img132/3847/support1w.jpg http://img197.imageshack.us/img197/7444/support2.jpg http://img197.imageshack.us/img197/7942/support3.jpg http://img268.imageshack.us/img268/1894/support4.jpg |
Fab'd the alloy battery tie down bracket and fitting 3 CDI box's (held by battery bracket posts), wiring layout in progress (lots of wires haha)
http://img3.imageshack.us/img3/6501/cdibattery1.jpg http://img3.imageshack.us/img3/4183/cdibattery2.jpg Started fabrication of the air box to turbo WI chamber, twin 3" feeds to 4" on front of turbo http://img29.imageshack.us/img29/6931/cdibattery3.jpg Well here it is, a tad over engineered!!! can be used as a third engine mount!!! (its not so bad weight is under 1kg) but its rock solid, holds coils perfectly and is very simple, each rotor coils set is modular and comes off with one cap head bolt https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif I probably screwed around for weeks on and off thinking how to do it and this way worked out best, lots of welding and making different jigs *fiddly stuff* especially the spacers for the coils, but that's how it goes lol http://img375.imageshack.us/img375/9789/cop2.jpg http://img375.imageshack.us/img375/4082/cop3.jpg http://img229.imageshack.us/img229/7108/cop1.jpg |
Finished AF sensor placement, also EBP sensor fitted too, all fiddly stuff really to get it to fit and be serviceable. Also have started work on decent SS304 heat shield (not finished yet), and fabricated the oil drain and inlet feed.
http://img38.imageshack.us/img38/4926/shield1w.jpg http://img132.imageshack.us/img132/1803/shield2.jpg http://img132.imageshack.us/img132/5764/shield3.jpg http://img36.imageshack.us/img36/7463/shield4.jpg http://img36.imageshack.us/img36/6268/shield5.jpg |
Well here is the completed dump pipe with all heat shields in place, these are designed to be loose and have some air circulation to stop pipe fatigue in circuit racing applications, I will have a pipe feed of air going to underside of manifold as well. Most all radiant heat will be stopped going into inlet manifold and into other components and engine bay in general as you can see from angled shots. All shields are removable too (made these myself).

*Some intermediate construction steps* After lunch Finished cut out of hole & welding of WG pipe https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif
http://img41.imageshack.us/img41/5950/wgpipe1a.jpg http://img41.imageshack.us/img41/6381/wgpipe2a.jpg http://img35.imageshack.us/img35/6261/wgpipe3a.jpg http://img35.imageshack.us/img35/6692/wgpipe4a.jpg http://img35.imageshack.us/img35/359/wgpipe5a.jpg http://img195.imageshack.us/img195/9838/wgpipe6a.jpg |

Here is updates !
RR WI tank/fuel cooler, lines done, tank mounts done, bit more wiring to go and she is done. http://img269.imageshack.us/img269/2248/witank1.jpg http://img33.imageshack.us/img33/4296/witank2.jpg http://img411.imageshack.us/img411/7899/witank3.jpg http://img521.imageshack.us/img521/9409/witank4.jpg http://img269.imageshack.us/img269/6863/witank5.jpg http://img254.imageshack.us/img254/4263/witank6.jpg http://img204.imageshack.us/img204/5649/witank7.jpg http://img258.imageshack.us/img258/1344/witank8.jpg http://img253.imageshack.us/img253/53/witank9.jpg http://img208.imageshack.us/img208/7089/witank10.jpg |

Here is some pics of the UIM & throttle body RR modified.
No vac lines any more!, only nipple attachment is for brake booster which is ok, all WI fittings and other systems attached. Should have taken a pic of all the metal shavings  https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683785.gif Lots of unique internal mods to manifold and throttle body, but sadly these cant be shared https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...R#>/tongue.gif http://img15.imageshack.us/img15/3795/muff4.jpg http://img195.imageshack.us/img195/746/muff3.jpg http://img30.imageshack.us/img30/4061/muff2.jpg http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/2163/muff1.jpg |
Was not happy with the **** location for the fuel pressure sensor so got creative and made up this contraption to move it where it needed to be (then can complete the wiring configuration). Also did the WI tank finish off today and filter system, passed leak test https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683785.gif holds 6.5lt of water  too late to take photos worthy to post :P
http://img40.imageshack.us/img40/3161/pressure1.jpg |
Here is the custom mounts for the WI/Fuel cooler/IC sprayer tank and the filter system, worked out ok https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif
http://img505.imageshack.us/img505/1696/wi1n.jpg http://img91.imageshack.us/img91/2654/wi2.jpg http://img40.imageshack.us/img40/4544/wi3.jpg http://img401.imageshack.us/img401/7694/wi4.jpg |
Well started on one of the last bits this morning, this is the air box adapter, thing it will turn out o.k.
Was going to make it more simply but like all things got carried away. (welded together a 3" spun donut and started the **** of a job fitting bits lol) https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif Water injector is in special location https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.gif (no not in my arse!) and will work perfectly with this design.... anyway here is a few pictures. http://img193.imageshack.us/img193/1985/box1dwl.jpg http://img41.imageshack.us/img41/3455/box2t.jpg http://img37.imageshack.us/img37/8771/box3n.jpg http://img256.imageshack.us/img256/4867/box4.jpg http://img38.imageshack.us/img38/2610/box5m.jpg |
One for the ladies lol
http://img193.imageshack.us/img193/334/tigcunt.jpg Some bay shots (slapped together to show what she looks like) http://img36.imageshack.us/img36/2756/boxfinish1.jpg http://img505.imageshack.us/img505/9990/boxfinish2.jpg |
Here is the completed RR air box adapter with RR WI nozzle mounted in it. Very Happy with the way it turned out overall and will work sweet.
http://img199.imageshack.us/img199/3213/ricebox1.jpg http://img35.imageshack.us/img35/6223/ricebox2.jpg http://img196.imageshack.us/img196/8729/ricebox3.jpg http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/1792/ricebox4.jpg |
Impressive work! Judging by the size I would say that's an inverter machine.... what type? Looks like a very nice unit. Much more portable than my big ass Miller https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif
|
I am not sure if its an inverter, it is very heavy! about 60kg or so despite its size, I used an old Miller at work and it was the size of a mother ship https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif need a crane to lift it lol. This one is a european Kemmpi machine 220amp AC/DC with pulse (non water cooled), its o.k. for the amount of work I do... still learning how to use it (am getting better with it) but its all to do with time as you well know....
Here is some more updated pics Fitted water atomizer retainer http://img36.imageshack.us/img36/8656/mounted2.jpg "fabricated" the CDI ignition harness and finished off the coil packs too https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif http://img168.imageshack.us/img168/4...nishcoils1.jpg http://img299.imageshack.us/img299/365/finishcoils2.jpg http://img257.imageshack.us/img257/1...nishcoils3.jpg http://img219.imageshack.us/img219/6...nishcoils4.jpg http://img228.imageshack.us/img228/3...nishcoils5.jpg |
Here is what it all looks like and sounds like when finished https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif

I am impressed. That is one of the nicest setups I have seen on the forums...
|
Thanks for the comment/s https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif
I wanted to do everything myself and implement a few different idea's (for me), I am happy with the way it turned out. |
This is a picture of the BEAST on the outside, out of the workshop https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif

Current engine bay https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif she has been going great! love every aspect of it, its the BEST road car set up I have ever had or been in for a 13B rotary. There is a more up to date commentary on one of the other sites I contribute to here > http://www.aquamist.co.uk/vbulletin/...3946#post13946 |
Some intuitive designs on this build. You planning on selling any of these parts?
|
Nothing but quality custom work. Thank you very much for sharing.
