Hi, been a long time since I posted in this forum but thought I would share some pics of my various fabrication projects on my SP RX7

Well here is the turbo support.

Fab'd the alloy battery tie down bracket and fitting 3 CDI box's (held by battery bracket posts), wiring layout in progress (lots of wires haha)

http://img3.imageshack.us/img3/6501/cdibattery1.jpg

http://img3.imageshack.us/img3/4183/cdibattery2.jpg

Started fabrication of the air box to turbo WI chamber, twin 3" feeds to 4" on front of turbo

http://img29.imageshack.us/img29/6931/cdibattery3.jpg

Well here it is, a tad over engineered!!! can be used as a third engine mount!!! (its not so bad weight is under 1kg) but its rock solid, holds coils perfectly and is very simple, each rotor coils set is modular and comes off with one cap head bolt https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif

I probably screwed around for weeks on and off thinking how to do it and this way worked out best, lots of welding and making different jigs *fiddly stuff* especially the spacers for the coils, but that's how it goes lol

Tomorrow wire up the 3 CDI boxes and all that is done :o

Totally sealed ! no radiant heat will go up to intake manifold ! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.gif

Pretty happy with end result, its what I always wanted in my own car and any turbo should be like this IMHO, no more excuses of "too hot bro, cant boost it" https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683785.gif

RICE RACING 06-16-2009 09:51 AM

Finished AF sensor placement, also EBP sensor fitted too, all fiddly stuff really to get it to fit and be serviceable. Also have started work on decent SS304 heat shield (not finished yet), and fabricated the oil drain and inlet feed.

RICE RACING 06-16-2009 09:52 AM

Well here is the completed dump pipe with all heat shields in place, these are designed to be loose and have some air circulation to stop pipe fatigue in circuit racing applications, I will have a pipe feed of air going to underside of manifold as well. Most all radiant heat will be stopped going into inlet manifold and into other components and engine bay in general as you can see from angled shots. All shields are removable too (made these myself).

No vac lines any more!, only nipple attachment is for brake booster which is ok, all WI fittings and other systems attached. Should have taken a pic of all the metal shavings  https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683785.gif

Was not happy with the **** location for the fuel pressure sensor so got creative and made up this contraption to move it where it needed to be (then can complete the wiring configuration). Also did the WI tank finish off today and filter system, passed leak test https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683785.gif holds 6.5lt of water  too late to take photos worthy to post :P

Well started on one of the last bits this morning, this is the air box adapter, thing it will turn out o.k.

Was going to make it more simply but like all things got carried away. (welded together a 3" spun donut and started the **** of a job fitting bits lol) https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif

Water injector is in special location https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.gif (no not in my arse!) and will work perfectly with this design.... anyway here is a few pictures.

Impressive work! Judging by the size I would say that's an inverter machine.... what type? Looks like a very nice unit. Much more portable than my big ass Miller https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif

RICE RACING 08-14-2009 06:31 AM

I am not sure if its an inverter, it is very heavy! about 60kg or so despite its size, I used an old Miller at work and it was the size of a mother ship https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif need a crane to lift it lol. This one is a european Kemmpi machine 220amp AC/DC with pulse (non water cooled), its o.k. for the amount of work I do... still learning how to use it (am getting better with it) but its all to do with time as you well know....

Here is some more updated pics

Current engine bay https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif she has been going great! love every aspect of it, its the BEST road car set up I have ever had or been in for a 13B rotary. Some intuitive designs on this build. You planning on selling any of these parts?
