Hey, I'm on to the oil part of my motor build and I was wondering if I should some things. I have read about using the FD OPR as an alternative to the RB one. Anyone have any opinions? Also should I think about replacing the stock FC oil pump? The motor is a RB SP motor. I've already spent a lot of money on my build so if a few hundred more would mean a greatly increased oiling system I'd do it. Any thoughts?

Naturally aspirated block or a turbo block as your core?
The TII oil pump is an upgrade over the N/A pump. If you aren't using the TII stuff, get it. That would be my personal choice. |

the fd runs 100psi oil pressure, and its like $30..... rb one is a lot more and does the same thing

My concern in using the FD regulator is whether or not there's a taxing issue on the oil pump. Familiar with that, Mike? I was considering upgrading to the FD regulator on my next rebuild for my own car but was curious about this.

fd opr is 115 psi and the rb one is 80 psi.
unless you have multi window bearings and large clearances you dont need the fd opr, go with the rb one. |

mines going to be using fd 3 window bearings and fd oil regulator and clearanced. will all of the oiling systems function properly at the raised pressure? what about the turbo, will this have any effect on the oil rings or anything like that?

According to rb the fd pressure reg. is 95-110psi max. That's what I'm using in my engine. When installing it they recommend that you leave the front cover gasket out and use silicone to seal it in order to apply more pressure to the oring. Or use a thicker oring.
