4 Attachment(s)
i decided to go with a single plane manifold with a plemun that could be unbolted and rediesgned if needed, i also due to cost decided to use the stock T.B. ported. i made all the parts below on a manual turn bridgeport.
the tb flange with welded studs Attachment 18123 the flange that the runners will bolt its still need the smooth transitions welded on and blended. it has thu holes for a 1/4-20 bolt Attachment 18124 the flange that is the back side of the plemun and will bolt to the above flange. its tapped for 1/4 bolts Attachment 18125 pic of the whole group, just missing the sides. Attachment 18126 the plemun flange is .185 thick S.S. and the flange the runners weld to is 3/16 steel, the tb flange is .100 thick ss and the rest of the plemun is made of .048 s.s. i will post more pics as i start welding it all together and the mock up --joe |
Your flanges will be too thin. Stainless is especially prone to warping when welding because of its high thermal expansion and low conductance of heat. You should consider 3/8" to be the minimum for flanges.
Ideally, you would make the flanges thick, 3/8 to 1/2", and then mill them flat after welding to get the best sealing surface. |
