I was assembling third gen motor this weekend. All parts are standard from Mazda.New rotorhouses as well.

When I mesured the length of the Apex it is 80,10-80,12 mm length. (the sidepiece is glued to the long part of the apex)

The rotor housing is (where its thinnest) 80,01mm.

The manual says the seals should be 0,10+-0,02 mm shorter than the width of the housing, but the engine builders here (not many of them here in Iceland) say they have not seen this problem before.

so before I go and grind the apexes down Id like to hear from someone that has had the same "problem" and if I am to grind the seals............ are there any good ways to do it? I didnt like the one in the manual that much.

Thanks

Solvi

did you measure just the long peice, or the long peice with the corner bit glued on? the corner bit is there to adjust the length or the seal, as the engine heats and cools.

the long piece with the corner bit glued on is 2/10 mm to long. so if I tighten the the bolts everything will become stuck during first time assembly. as I understand the manual they say the whole thing (with the two pieces glued together) are supposed to be 1/10 mm shorter than the rotorhouse. So my only option seems to be to shorten the seal.

seems a bit strange for standard parts....... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/blink.png

its glued together so that you can assemble the motor, once you tighten it down the glue breaks
