I would look at the bearing area around the indexing tab. Try to determin if the tab had been installed slightly off alignment. This causes the clearance around the tab to go to zero. It may not make enough drag to interfere with assembly, but will overheat and fail the bearing in short order. Lynn E. Hanover |
Take a close look at the bearing and it will tell you. Is the babbit all gone? Has the babbit melted? What do the rest of the bearings look like? How about the rest of the motor...

the rest of the motor is ok, but the bearing is stuck on the e shaft and i can not get the rotor off, i will probly cut the bearing off. i have another e shaft so it is no big deal. i dont want to use the gear because it spun inside and the next might fit loose. i was thinking of the rx8 staionary gears?? any experience with these anyone?

From what I understand the RX-8 stationaries work.
I just intalled a set in a GSL-SE 13B block. The clearances were the same. The only difference was the rear bearing has 8 windows and a set screw |
