known:

they fit in an fc rotor housing, ie they dont stick out and hit the apex seal

they look like race plugs

unknown:

heat ranges are 6L and 7?T stock, does this correspond to the breq's?

do they work?

So that the new plugs are gapable... so they can be used longer

kahren 06-23-2004 07:38 PM

i am gonan ahve to try these on teh dyno on my na

Renesis also has a higher compression... Might be the reason that single ground strap will work, like the colder race plugs such as NGK, or HKS.

Don't know if it will work better or not, with lower heat range, bigger flame front for the older 13B NA....

GoRacer 06-23-2004 07:54 PM

The heat #'s for FC/FD are 7L & 9T. The race plug is 11.5 (all 4) for FC/FD and is NGK but I can't tell from the picture if it has that thin peice from the side to the electrode (forget what it's called).

Well if they are Denso then they are the Iridiums @ $35ea (7's/9's) but if they are NGK's then they are the race plugs @ $26ea . The iridiums should also be a titanium grey as opposed to the copper.

they are ngk, they are NOT the race plugs although they look a lot like them

RE6A is the ngk #

Well that deoends on how you difine race plugs. They are hotter and race plugs are colder but they are basicaly the same plug, well except the RX8 plugs should be Iridiums. It looks like you have coppers and 6 heat range and the Iridiums listed for the RX8 are 7's (RE7A-L).

GoRacer 06-23-2004 09:06 PM

...whoops and RE7B-T. I can't find them for sale on sparkplugs.com allthough if you called they could get them, i'm sure. I also can't cross reference the Denso Iridiums to the NGK's which would answer you question.

they look like the race plugs, not the stock fc/fd plugs

edit: NGK's web site shows 7's for L & T but Racing Beat show 7's & 9's and list them for $38. I emailed sparkplug.com for a price quote.

i'll have to look but mazda is 6 and something else

Drago86 06-24-2004 06:54 PM

There should be 2 sets of heat ranges, There was a tsb about fouling plugs and flooding, mazda switched the cars that had these problems over to hotter plugs, and i think all the cars comming in now have the hot plugs from the factory.

Cheers! 06-24-2004 09:39 PM

they are expensive

full-cruise 09-15-2005 08:09 PM

have these rx8 plugs been tested in the older 13bt's yet.. ?

rfreeman27 09-15-2005 08:42 PM

Just to clarify, the lower the number the hotter the plug. I mighta just read some of the posts wrong or somethin

Hyper4mance2k 09-15-2005 11:59 PM

I ran the br8iex iridium plug that RB recomends for race apps and it stubled everywhere as oposed to the stock 2g in the leading and stock 12a plugs in the trailing. Mind you I run a s-3 13b with a MSD_DIS igntion... For yous who don't know I run the typical MSD directfire, but instead of using two coils in a series or parallel I use a MSD DIS coil. It made such an improvement on start up and gas mileage it's sickning!
