small scoring.. bad enough to ditch or can i reuse..
its not deep... pulled from a stock motor that had all the seals intact.. wonderin how this happened.. this is for a spare motor with streetport.. not for resale.. |
that may have been a casting flaw or a screw of some sort got in there.
|
I never asked this question as i was never really worried about it but..... every rotor i have has that marking??
|
Jio, i have a few old rotors lying around that have similar casting marks on them... and a few with factory stamped numbers around the same location. Since the factory would stamp them near there, i wouldn't be worried about it hotspoting and causing detonation at them. just my $0.02
|
ah.. ive only noticed the number stamps...
couldnt quite make this one out thinkin it was damage.. perhaps japanese character stamping like found on the sides.. i know what those signify.. anyone know what the stamping on the faces means.. |
Jio, what i meant was, i definitely looks like pitting to me... but since they aren't worried about hot spotting when they number stamp them, i would be overly worried about that pit unless it goes all the way thru the rotor face. I know pitting in a piston engine cylinder wall will cause hot spotting and detonation...but i've never seen stampings on the pistons or walls in any of my engines
