Maybe I am imagining things, but I remember some of the "gurus" talking about using something to smooth out circumferential ridges on used rotor housings. I thought little of it since the rotor housings I generally see are either demolished, heavily flaked, heavily chattered, or sometimes when the moon is in the right house and some seriously good karma comes my way, good condition. I figured it was one of those things that happens to someone else in a parallel universe.

I thought the latter happened for the latest engine for my care, and as I was doing the post-porting cleaning I saw a little ridge in the trailing plug hole area. Looks like a miniature mountain range, and it's only on the area of the rotor housing near the trailing hole.

So, I want to smooth it out, because they are otherwise in great shape, but for the life of me I can't find the thread. Should I use a really, really fine file, or fine grit sandpaper wrapped around a dowel, or something else? Cleaning up the chrome is a new one on me.
