Getting my core ready to turn in and I dont know what the "front cover oil cooler union joint" is. I dont have the reman yet to compare to, and I cant find anything in the FSM, so any help would be appreciated. Thanks,

Dano

I would guess it's fitting that threads into the front cover that the cooler line attaches to.

That is a banjo bolt though, not a fitting https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683561.gif

No - the banjo bolt is on the rear iron.

Both oil lines are attached via banjo bolts, one on the oil filter mount on the rear iron, and one on the bottom of the front cover. All I was asking about is if that is the "fitting" that needs to stay on the front cover.

You're right. I was thinking of the earlier engines which do have a flare union adapter that threads into the front cover. The oil line then threads onto that union. The 3rd gens are banjo bolts. I would imagine that whomever you're getting the engine from has generic instructions that are refering to that fitting. Since the 3rd gen doesn't have one I'd hang on to the banjo bolt and send it that way. Or give them a call and make sure?

I think I'm just going to bring the bolt with me whenever the damn reman comes in. If I call the dealer I think I will just cause mass confusion anyways.
