Kinda an embarassing question, and a newb question too, but I figure rather ask a question once and be an idiot for a minute, rather than never ask it and be an idiot forever.
What's a good way to prevent your apex seals from busting up? I know that making sure you have plenty of oil is one way, but what are some other ways? And what makes them bust up. I guess those two questions are rather interchangable... Anyways, thanks for the info! |
Make sure your cars has a good amount of fuel so it doesn't go ping and its all over. :;
Yah, what he said. Oil isn't usually the problem. People playing with the boost and not addressing the fuel is usually the problem:)
another thing would be carbon build up around the seals. i have my engine apart right now and i notice a lot of buildup around the apex seal area. this can cause them not to spring back or flex the way they should and you lose compression like that. do the atf trick if you haven't already. that should significantly help
Er, one more embarrassing newbie question then--what's the atf trick? I can get my hands on some alcohol and tobacco, but the firearms might take a while and how does that help the car?
hehehe. ATF = Automatic Trasmission Fluid.
Please do a search for "ATF" in the subject line only and you will find a bunch of posts. Although this search engine kind of sucks the ones on http://www.teamfc3s.org/forum and http://www.rx7club.com/forum are good. |
