Greetings fellow rotor nuts!



I have been away from the forums a long time. I used to go by the name, Newguy707.

A lot has happened in my life while absent, but I'm still committed to the rotary scene. My project has been steadily progressing through the years. Finding the time and drive to get certain things done has been difficult, to say the least. Especially after a physically demanding day/week.(I'm a student/general contractor/concrete specialist. i.e. Usually working in the Georgia sun all day). Now that we're finally getting some decent weather, I've really picked up the pace. I thought I'd post some pics of my work. Once it's in the car and the bugs worked out, I'll do a detailed post of the buildup. Many mods can be spotted in the pics.

Which tool do you use to make the grooves in the canals around the sparkplugs?

I can't remember the exact name. It's a dremel cutting bit that looks like a mini circular saw. I mounted it up in the drill press and locked it at the different elevations. Afterwards, I debured the grooves with a round bur. If I had to do it again, I'd find a way to slip a sleeve over the cutting bit's shaft, preventing it from sawing to deeply. I was on edge the whole time knowing that thing was ready to trash my housings if I went to far.

Custom made 16 gauge stainless steel oil baffle plate. (I've got a few more of these and plan on offering them in FS/wanted soon) Using some spare studs for alignment makes the installation quick and painless.

whats the gain on polishing the rotors?

Less likey that they will hold carbon deposits

I used an aluminum stand off as a spacer when I did my waterjacket grooves and it did make it go really fast as I only had to concentrate on keeping the housing flat on the drill press table. I didn't think about finishing the edges with a rounded bit; nice touch, I think I will use that next time.



Nice looking engine build.

I got rained out before I could get the 7 into the garage. On top of that, my printer decided to quit when I tried to print out some wiring diagrams. So, I got wet. Note to self: Getting a vehicle off jack stands on a gravel driveway in the rain is not smart or safe.
