I am looking at my options for a rebuild and port on my 87 N/A motor. It still runs strong, but I want to know what would be the best setup for for porting if it decides to pop on me. I was thinking of a regular rebuild, with street ported primaries, with bridged auxillary (5th and 6th intake) ports. The mods that I have done to the car are a custom cold air intake arm, Pineapple Racing sleeve inserts, S5 intake manifolds (that will be on the car when the LIM gets here), a Racing Beat header, no cat, a Borla Cat-Back system, and an APex'I S-AFC (untuned). As of right now I am running 15.3 @ 90.XX mph in the quarter mile with a shitty clutch. I would like to be in the mid to low 14's in a car that can be daily driven. So my question is, Will this setup be good for the time?

i hate to tell people to search, but there is a lot of discussion that has been

covered and you can find it if you search in the engine forum

The stock intake manifold and intake system in general are way too restrictive for any kind of bridgeport like that to work good. You will be wasting your time. It will act like it has ignition breakup and you will go absolutely crazy trying to diagnose it when in reality it is due to heavy exhaust gas dilution due to a restrictive intake side. Don't do it. You'll get less power than you could with a more mild setup. Bigger isn't always better. There is a reason that the big rotary tuners out there don't do this type of porting. It isn't because they are concerned about emissions. It's because it doesn't work like you think it will. If you changed to a weber style manifold and did the exhaust just right, it could be made to work decently but you've got a long way in mods to do before you get to that point. Stick to a streetport. There is more power in them than many people think there is. Kahren is a very good example of getting alot more power out of a port than most people think is possible. He does it right.
