I was doing a bridge port and i got a little over zealous and might have ported the bridge just a little to big. I think. I have (at the smallest area) .070" for the corner seal to ride on. And only .025" from the opening edge of the bridge to the water jacket groove!



I know i could just open the bridge more into a J or D bridge and epoxy that area of the coolant groove to solve that, but i would rather not have to do that. Also, is .070" enough for the corner seal to ride on? I have read before that 2mm is reccomended. that's about .079". So is 9 thousandths really that big of a deal? Or does it matter where i placed the bridge for the corner seal to ride on?

The corner seal will be fine if anything is left to keep it in the hole. The problem might be:

Is the leading end of the side seal on the bridge all of the way across the port. The irons change shape as they heat soak after running. The intake side is fuel cooled and only heats up after the engine stops running. So the bridge is stressed after shut down, and if too thin or too narrow or both, tends to crack ruining the iron.
