so i thought spark plug wires didnt make that big of a difference...until i changed my stock ones (91 TII) for some 10.5 mm ones.

my idle whent from 850-900, to 1500 area.....

and i have a Apexi PFC. the commander read 20* trailing and 25* leading. or the other way around. cant remember.

before i put the plugs it read 0* and 13*...or something close to that. (base map from banzia-racing)

should i change back to a stock 8.5mm, or 9.0 MSD wire? or tune the car to those wires? i just didnt think changing a plug wire would need tuning. lol...

Are you sure you're just not in a different part of the map given that the RPM is different?

sen2two 11-16-2007 09:59 PM

yeah...i checked up on that. thats what that was.

but my idle will not leave the 1500rpm area. would plug wires higher my idle?

No, they'd fire your plugs.

The probability that the wire change caused that RPM increase is unlikely.

It is possible that the wires are not of similar construction, such as carbon vice inductive. That can change several perameters the controller sees. Or, perhaps one of the wires was damaged internally and the controller is compensating for a situation that now does not exist.

Restore the controller to its default settings and try again.

you prolly knocked a hose off to get the high idle...

sen2two 11-17-2007 12:03 PM

i found that the BAC electrical connector was originally disconnected. while replacing the plug wires, i plugged it in. that was the only other thing that was different. so while idling at 1500, i unplugged it. bringing the idle back down to 900

i guess its not needed when using a Apexi PFC.
