What kind of parts cleaner to you use to clean the housings? Ive been soaking my rotor's and other misc internal's in 'Purple Power', some cheap automotive degreaser that walmart sell's for like $4 a gallon. It gets the job done without any effort on my part. However on the back it mentiones that i should dilute it 15:1 for chrome (im doing about 12:1 right now, not to worried) but mentions to test it on aluminum before soaking. Do i have anything to worry about

Ive got a junk housing soaking in it now, been their for about 2h'rs. It is really cleaning it up, chrome never looked so bright, however i dont know if im causing unseen damage at the same time

i think they are give a warning because some soaps or cleaning agents tend to fog up polished rims or others of the sort. basically on housings, if it's clean then it's all good.

I use Simple Green stuff... it doesn't smell half as bad as the purple stuff.

I usually don't clean housings like that per se. There's a blasting place about 1/2hr drive from here that does nothing but baking soda blasting. Works extremely well for cleaning up housings.

be careful with that stuff on the rotors, cuz it will eat the bearings! otherwise ive seen it work great!

Certain chemicals will eat aluminum. You are currently etching the surface of your junk housings. Even though you may not see it, it is occuring. Should you clean a part that has a tight tolerance you may etch too much and ruin the part.
