Assuming I duct tape the inside lining of the rotor housing and thread in old spark plugs, would it be ok to sandblast rotor housings and the coolant passages? I plan to air it out, wash it in some water again, and air it out some more. Will this be ok?

I use walnut shells
|
careful with the cooling passages around the spark plugs and exhaust ports, you dont want a pinhole coolant leak.
|
id ude more than just duct tape on the inside of the housing. seems a little risky to me, but what do i know?
|
Cool, thanks for the tips!
Cletus, I forget what size glassbeading I'm using but I've done a few manifolds and it hardly scrapes away or goes through the duct tape. At least the ones I'm using. |
alright. ive done manifolds too, i just know how sensitive the inner housings are. let me know how it goes
|
send hte housings to an engine rebuild shop that has steam dunk tanks
|
ive done it before. Be really careful about the sand, make sure you blow all of it out of the coolant passages.
The motor went into dee's drag car and he has had zero problems with the housings. |
i blast housings all the time with glass beads, never had a problem with over 100 motors.
i always pressure wash the housings with water afterward, be extra carefull with the spark plug holes. do not leave ANY glass beads in there |
