okay okay i own a 87 base rx7 with the 6 port NA. I think my apex seals are starting to go because i am getting some white smoke (ie steam) out my exaust pipe and its stutering and kinda falling off at the top end when it gets floored.

so i figure i should probaly do a rebuild fairly soon before i completly blow something (note i am not really down on power until it stutters up high) the problem with a rebuild is my funds are extremly limited so im wondering if i could do it for around 4-500ish? can i get away with just a mazda engine seal kit? or can i just go crazy with a whole bunch of different permatex stuff? (i work at a auto parts store so that stuff is dirt cheap for me but we cant get any engine seal kits for my car https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683358.gif )

next up is i would like to do some fairly serious porting but keep it reliable. I am open to anything from large streetport to bridge. I am most likely going to try and combine the 5th and 5th ports (if possible and if there are no coolant passages there). I am also planning on porting my intake manifolds fairly seriously and completly removing the 5th and 6th port acuators. PLEASE do not turn this into a debate on wether i should use the 5th and 6th port acuators!!!!!! They are already wired open (didnt work when i got the car), i have a straitpipe ie. no back pressure to activate them and i do not want to worry about some other form of activation.

also i would like to fab up a header to run to my 2.5 in exaust so i was wondering if you would also have any sugestions for pipe sizing etc.before it is colected into a single (yes i know i have too make them equal length etc

my current mods are a 2.5 in straite pipe, ported tbod with the tbod mod done a drop in k &N intake and the wired open 6 ports.

PS i am planning on keeping the stock ecu for now and just getting a t2 fuel pump and some bigger secondary injectors will that be enough for fuel?

PS the intake will also be changed to some form of a cold air intake as well

ohh im sorry i forgot to give the cars purpose. itll be used for auto-x, track days, time trials and eventually some hillclimbs (when i am a little more confident with my driving and the safety equipment is installed. It will remain street "legal" (no trailer to get too events or truck to pull it or money for it lol) but it doesnt have to be very "streetable"

The white smoke is most likely just an oil controlring or o-ring gone bad.

If visual steam is coming out the exhaust, your engine is burning coolant faster than you can top it off https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

If you do rebuild it yourself it can be done within your pricerange, given that you reuse every possible part.

There is no real reason for replacing parts that are still within spec.

I dont think replacing the inner combustion o-ring with permatex or the like will be a good idea, I have never tried it though, just replace them with new ones. The outer o-ring(black) is reusable in most of the teardowns i have done. Clean and reuse it.

Dont combine the secondary/aux. ports. I seriously doubt that it will give you any gains.

Headers will be just fine in 1.75", then make a seperate exhaust for each chamber, I have no proof of powergains for this exhaust but hey atleast it sounds ******* great.

Stock injectors and pump should be just fine for 200+ hp, Stock fuelmap is pigrich, maybe get an Apexi S-AFC to control the fuel.
