So i'm putting on my oil pump gear again (had no oil pressure, the key fell out!), so i got it back on, w/ the key in there this time.

Now i go to tighten it up. so i'm tightening... tighening... DOH i accidentall turn the main pully!! (cause of the gear attached... you know..).

Is this bad? My understanding is you dont want to move the engine when assembling this stuff. I have the clutch in for preventing the crankshaft stuff from seperating, so i can't put it in gear and spin it.

I don't have an impact gun, so i dont know how tigh ti need to make it.

What are your reccomendations??

Thanks ~Geoff

Thirty foot pounds? I may be wrong. Please don't try to tighten it until someone else here can post. Also, you might be able to jamb something against the counterweight to prevent the engine from turning as you tighten the nut. don't forget to bend the washer behind the nut.

30 to 35ft/lbs. Put some loctite on the nut prior. Use something to keep the crank from turning, also. Once the nut is torqued on, use a flathead screwdriver and small hammer to ding the flat washer behind it to prevent the nut from turning.
