I would say go to the top of this section and read all the pinned items. There is more info in there than you will find in any book. Happy hunting and welcome to the community.

Do you understand pistons?
In piston terms, porting is the equivalent of bigger heads AND a lumpy cam all at the same time. By changing the size and shape of the ports, intake and exhaust timing are affected, and the flow capability is increased as well. |
www.rotaryengineillustrated.com has some good stuff there.

thanks alot, ill start reading now https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...R#>/tongue.png
maybe in a week or two ill finnish would being a rotary mechanic be a good choice of job :P?/ life cheers |
Yes! Good ones are in high demand. Seeing as 50% of the remans I have seen blow up I would say we need some better ones so we can get rid of these idiots.
|
yes...IF you could get enough work to support yourself. lots of stuff on forums, but there aren't too many rx7's compared to other cars.
|
If everything goes as good as it looks Mazda may start using rotarys in more than RX models. There has been rumors of a rotary powered Miata, that would be the shizznit. It would be like a modern 1st gen 7.
-Shawn PS- On another note where would one go to learn to work on rotarys in the states? I just started college for Manual tranny rebuilds, Eng Performance 1 and Engine rebuilding. I have yet to find anyone here in FL that offers such schooling. |
as far as i know, there's no "organised" school....just dig in and learn as you go.

If you wanna learn rotary, go to your local technical school. sing up for their automotive program, get an rx7 as your school project car. between this forum and an rx7 manual if you ever get stuck in a repair, there will be someone to help you get unstuck. Learn by doing. Its what i am doing, and Ive had an offer from a shop over on the east coast (where i am) to come work for them after I get out of school. Its a two year program that ll help put you in a place you love. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png
