Hey guys,
im ready to buy my rebuild parts. I'm looking to boost 20psi, and hit around 550hp (using a t78, streetport, wolf3d v4, bla bla bla). My fuel and ignition system will handle this so all I want is to make sure my engine is strong enough. Here's the parts Ive got listed so far to by for the rebuild (instead of a kit) let me know what i should add, remove, replace etc: New Rotary Aviation 3mm Apex Seals (rotors done for 3mm seals already) New Atkins 3mm Apex Seal Springs New Atkins 2mm Solid Corner Seals New FD Corner Seal Springs New Rear Main New Front Main New Stock Side Seals New Stock Side Seal Springs New Atkins Thermal Pellet New Atkins Oil Ring Inserts New Atkins Oil Rings Springs All new Internal and external gaskets I'll also be getting my motor ported, the housings will then be stripped down and ceramic coated with a "Cermet B" type coating. Now on Rotary Aviation there kits come with a new thrust bearing...do I need that? Is that the same bearing for the clutch (thrust and pilot bearings, i think, come with my clutch IIRC, i might have the names for the ebarings mixed up in my head tho) Also what other things should i add? I know rotor bearings are available but im not sure if my current rotor bearings are bad, what should i look for to determine if they're bad? Any help is great. This is my first rebuild https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png. kevin. |

This is my first rebuild https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png. kevin. 2mm corner seals will not fit 3mm apex seals. The thrust bearings, 2 of them, are the needle thrust bearings located at the front of the engine, to support the engine's endplay. The clutch bearings are the pilot bearing and the throw out bearing. I decide whether or not to replace rotor bearings based on their clearance to the eccentric shaft. |
dont forget to replace all stationary gear bearings, polish the e shaft, new needle bearings....

damn meant to write down solid 3mm corner seal, slight typo lol.
Where can i buy the thrust bearings seperately. I cant find them on atkins and im honestly not sure where else to look. Yea i remembered it was "throwout" bearing like 5 minutes after i typed this lol, thats a serious brain fart hah. I'll have to check the clearancing on the E-Shaft then. Stationary gear bearing replacement is a must? Again any idea on where to buy those seperately? as for polishing the e-shaft...i refuse to do that, no piston motor has a polished crankshaft so i figure they dont need it then i dont either https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png. Oh and also im going to redo the jetting on the e-shaft the way someone wrote about it in here as i figure that is a definite must. kevin. |
