I have came up with a port but don't know if its going to work, don't have a drawing or anything to show but u will have to think about it, well its a 13B 4 port on the side plate the port remains the same, now adding a monster port without crossing the O ring line so when i put the housing on it u will never see the monster port, not to put a hole the size of the stock exhaust or little holes (almost like a PP port ) where the monster port is,...... now what do you people think preferred pros if there is any in this forum???? is it going to work and i haven't figured out weather i am going to open or close late on it...... thanks for the help no B/S please

Drago86 04-22-2004 06:41 AM

so basically a port in the water jacket? so like a PP fed frm the side ports via the rotor housing? The only thing i would think that could be goof for was cheating in a racing class that doesnt alow PP's or something. It would flow less than a true PP , most likly ingest some coolent no mater how much rtv you used and have all the down sides of a PP without the same power,..

rx7_dren 04-22-2004 07:04 AM

you got it drago like a PP port but not a Full PP port but the water jacket is not gonna be working, also i know there is guys out there that has custom ports cuz i dont think im the only guy to come up with this idea and if i am then Jim Mederer from Racing Beat better hire me on his team https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif gimme a hug Jimmy ol Boy

bill shurvinton 04-22-2004 02:29 PM

Been done. CAn work very well if you know what you are doing.

rx7_dren 04-22-2004 02:32 PM

i need proof, and i have alot more ideas but its costing time and main thing money to do it

bill shurvinton 04-22-2004 03:03 PM

Heck, I'm not even allowed to see it. I just know its there and makes more HP than a big bridge. 170ish RWHP on a 12A with a Nikki.

(And I know that is a lame answer, but I cannot divulge any more)

wha's the name of the port?

rx7_dren 04-22-2004 05:50 PM

well i wont give out anymore of my ideas that fast that one was just common thinking for me ill name the rest after my self ...look out soon in stores adrian's port or named after my invincible crew "Rotarex"

ColinRX7 04-22-2004 06:00 PM

Uhhh you should wait to see how well it works before you make a claim to fame, there, buddy..

Doesn't really have a name. Its an engine FFS.

Nothing is really new, everything has been tried, sometimes published, sometimes kept secret, often by Mazda engineers. Probably before Master dren was born.

But think about topologies. If you make a big PP eventually you need more support for the apex seal as it passes over. So you put a bridge in the middle of the rotor housing (something being tried by Guru racing according to an article on their website) so effectively have 2 PPs on the same housing.

rx7_dren 04-23-2004 10:25 AM

oh im atcually not planning on changing the seals the hole is not gonna be that big or i might put 2 holes one after the other and was planning to also put a bridge port but dont wanna spend money on seals, if putting 1 hold ill put it as big as exhaust port if putting 2 ill put it just a little smaller, but so far i like this site also You guys atcually know some things https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

ColinRX7 04-23-2004 10:36 AM

Building engines cost money. If you can't justify new seals to build a motor, I think you're in the wrong business...

mazdaspeed7 04-23-2004 11:12 AM

If money is tight, the last thing you want to do is experiment with engines. It gets very expensive very quickly. Ask me how I know.

banzaitoyota 04-23-2004 11:18 AM

I KNOW!!!!!! I KNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

rx7_dren 04-23-2004 11:26 AM

the thing is i have lots of engines lying around so i dont care and when i find a good custom port then ill spend some money to re enforce,

banzaitoyota 04-23-2004 11:57 AM

Not to piss in your corn flakes, but how are you going to know when your port is working correctly when you cant afford a set of decent seals to assemble it?

ColinRX7 04-23-2004 02:43 PM

Yeah exactly.

You're port might be good but it won't matter for **** if you've got abnormally low compression from re-used shitty old seals.

Or from using the stock manifold, ecu and exhaust. If you cant spend the money to do it right, spend the money on what you can do right.

ColinRX7 04-23-2004 03:28 PM

Well put.

rx7_dren 04-23-2004 03:54 PM

no more comment i thought this site would have more smarter people but i guess you guys are just a rotary fan and no nutting about it. only the stuff you read of other people treads and internet related, how many of you atcually rebuild "any" engine for that matter, how many of you are good at physics and chemistry, you guys should go on www.rx7forum.com all the **** talkers are there and the people who ask alot of questions, please read my 1st topic before giving an ans., what this shows me, you guys cant even read a blueprint if you cant even read a simple tread, topic done im out

with that attitude, glad to see you go.

ColinRX7 04-23-2004 05:03 PM

How many engines have you built? For fucks sakes, you're talking about reusing old ass seals.

See ya!

2 words for you...shut the **** up beatch.

Looking at your grammar, looks like I've built more engine's than you've years on the EARTH.

banzaitoyota 04-23-2004 06:25 PM

We speak from EXPERIENCE. Wonder what happens when you use all new seals, cryo treat various partss and a shitty housing slipped thru QC? You get DICK for power. Innovation and resourcefulness is one thing. GHETTO building is another.

If you dont want to listen to YEARS of experience, dont bother reading, you asked our opinion and we gave it. GET OVER IT

j9fd3s 04-23-2004 09:43 PM

you can tell when you put a used housing motor vs a new housing one in an fd, because they dont hot start with used housings for a while. with new housings it starts right up https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Cheers! 04-23-2004 11:49 PM

I just finished my last exam for a degree in engineering physics, electrical engineering option at Queen's University Kingston Ontario Canada. I designed the rear suspension system for a open wheel formula style racing car using ADAMS/car. Analyzing the effects of varying camber gain, scrub change, antiroll, anti dive, anti squat, materials selection...

I also dyno tuned a 400cc engine and installed and tuned a tec3. Analyzed effect of runner intake volume, exahust back pressure at different rpms, the correct amount of lift and duration.

So what degree and automotive expreience do u have? Which university did you goto? What aspect of thermodynamics or fluid dynamics would you like to discuss about? Or how about the port timming and how it affects engine performance?
