I think oil pressure is a serious issue and should not be disreguarded as a bad gauge. My car is a s513bt with a s313b front cover. I get 10 psi at idle 50 at 3k and when I get on it it goes to about 65psi. I've got 3k on my rebuild and my bearings were all damn near perfect and same with the e shaft No groves or any copper showing. Honestly there looked to be no wear on anything but the housings. On my last oil change I cut open my oil filter and saw some copper. This scared the **** out of me and I'm deathly afraid of failure. Next weekend I'm going to drop the pan and mod the OPR. I'm pissed I didn't do it at the time of rebuild but a few told me not to worry about it cause it's the s5t2 one. My mistake for listening... Then I'm going to pull the front cover and see if the seal is okay. It should be since it's getting 65 at WOT, but it's a s5 OPR so it should be 80psi I thought. Any ideas would be great. I'm scared **** less. Also when I put the main pulley I didn't have access to a flywheel stop or an impact when I did it I put a 3' breaker bar and hit it with a 2x4. Would too much eshaft play cause the low oil pressure and copper in the oil? Seems like it might. How can I get this thing tight if it is the culpret besides an impact. Because I don't want to over tighten it right? I am scared as a wench with a cauldren in salem.

More appropriately: I'm as scared as a Witch with a Cauldron in Salem.

Regardless, my oil pressure went funky for two days, and seems to have been fixed by the accident I was in. It only started after I removed part of my dash, and stopped promptly after hitting something. There's 63k on my rebuild and I have no operating issues at all.

I've found nothing strange in my oil. Actually, it stays remarkably clean. Mine, after 2200 miles (Due for change) is still very amber with only a very light tint of brown. Only thing is, my oil pan gasket is getting a bit worse. I need to have the bolts tightened a little or the gasket replaced. I really should be investing in better ramps considering a jack won't go under my car and the ramps I have were designed for RVs and not low-to-the-ground sports cars.

A healthy 13b in my experience and from what I've read should be running 30psi, or ever so slightly under or over, at idle. At 3k, mine goes to around 80 something and if I'm really flooring it it'll go to 100.

Do you warm up your engine before driving? How long?

is that front cover gasket from atkins? if it is, they're thicker than stock. i'd pop off the front cover and make sure the o-ring and washer are still there, then swap it out for either a stock, or rx8 gasket.

Ditch the gasket all together.

Seriously? Should I use orange RTV or some blue stuff at least?

I like Three-Bond 1211. Any good silicone is what you use.

Wow I must have been drunk when I read the Mazdatrix page. For some reason I thought it said to cut off the gasket part that stuck out onto the ring thing there. DAmn So looks like I might have to pull my engine to fix this. Unless you guys think i can do it with the engine in the car????

+1 on that. Use Permatex The Right Stuff gasket maker product. It's terrific. No need for a paper gasket.

I hooked up a guage to my rebuild today and only got a little over 40 psi, cold. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683664.gif
