Going to get a Large street port on my FD soon but was told that I might have to replace stationary gears. How could I check if they are still good? Engine has 100k miles with good compression F-105 and R-100.

What other internal mods should I do before rebuilding engine? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...R#>/unsure.png

Any advice would help thanx

You shouldnt have to replace your gears. If your taking your engine apart to port it and it already has 100K on it it may be smart to rebuild it, but you dont have to. If you want to go to rotaryaviation.com and they have a full rbuild kit for only 550. Thats a great deal! Also I'm doing a larg street port on my engine in about a couple weeks. Im getting the templets at racing beat, Ive been doing my research for a couple of months and if you want alot of power port your exhaust too. It will put your intake port to a better use! You wont need a better feul pump or bigger injecters, stock are fine. If you want a list of all the pros, cons, and hp gains of the ports go to www.mazdarotary.net/porting.htm That should answer all you questions!

kyle

Thanks for the info

Are you porting your own engine because I am just going to leave it up to someone else to do that for me. I will rebuild it myself. I have rebuilt a first gen SE engine before and am confident I can do it myself.

I might have to upgrade fuel pump and injectors because I am going single turbo

Any recommendations.

Good Luck on your build https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif

Yeah, Im porting my own engine because for racing beat to port my intake and exhaust they charge $720+shipping. Thats crazy, but they only charge around $75 to get the templets for the intake and exhaust port plus another 25 for the grinder bit plus some type of sand paper to polish(smooth it out) and thats one hell of a deal. So im getting a engine down in fl.(im in stl, mo) to replace the one I have in my car now. I have a blown water coolant o ring. So im rebuilding my blown engine and while its disassembled im going to port it. Porting adds a lot of power, thats the beauty of it. Also if you get a turbo that will be hella fast! hopefully the websites I gave you answered your questions, If you have anymore questions just ask, Ill be checking this post for the next few days.

Yea, if you plan on going to a single AND porting the intake and the exhaust it would be a wise idea to go ahead and do some fuel mods. Porting isn't that hard either. You can pick up a junk iron and housing for cheap and practice on those.

T04SFD 04-11-2004 01:02 AM

That sucks because a spare block that I had from an 85 which I used to practice assembling and disassembling. But threw it away after a while. kept the rotors.

Still thinking about rebuilding it myself, dont want to mess things up but i know if I take my time and my workshop manual I should be okay.

I'll keep you updated on how everything goes.

Any ideas on fuel mods to go with??????? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683473.gif

You will NEED to change your stationary gear/rotor bearings though. At 100k miles, I doubt they're going to last much longer.

T04SFD 04-11-2004 01:27 PM

How about keeping the same stationary gears and doing the e-shaft oil modification with the Racing Beat jets?

kahren 04-12-2004 04:34 PM

inspect the bearings closely, i woudl change those stationary gears if u are planning on puttign down some serious power, and ofcourse change all the seals.

do oil mods as to what u are planning to do with the motor.

kahren

I will inspect the bearings closely as soon as I take it apart

but I might as well change them since I do have over 100k on motor.

Yes I am planning on putting down some serious power. Shooting for 400+ RWP

Think it is possible ?

These are my mods that I have so far 93 MB FD

KAAZ lsd/4.33 gears/Mazdatrix driveshaft/ Racing Beat 6-puck sprung centered clutch with PP/Tokiko 5-way/Eibach springs/KOYO radiator.
