It really depends on how much has to lapped off. We measure every plate before and after lapping so we can get an idea on the amount of end shaft play we'll be adjusting out. You also don't want to lap to much off and make the water seal groove to shallow. You'll end up with a coolant seal that is compressed to much and therefore prone to premature failure.



I'm guessing you probably can't lap the plate and have it in a good usable state when your finished with all the imperfections you have marked in the picture. But then again it might lap out easily but I wouldn't count on it.

Yesterday i went to a surface grinding place to se if how many thousands i can take out . We measured the dent and some pits in the housing and it came out to 002 so i figured it at most take out 003 i should be OK ..

Ok can some one take a look at this pic ? I took the plate at the grinding place And too about .005 of it and it still has some small pitting .. Can some one tell me if it is usable ?

I'm a hack, but my plates were 10,000 times worse than the first ones you posted and mine worked fine. the lapped ones should work perfect.
