Ok guys, just waiting on 2corner seals to arive here then my engine will be back together.

Just one (well.. at this stage) problem I have is trying to keep the fricken coolant o-rings in place while I put the housing on?!

They keep popping out of their sockets...

SHould I use a few dabs of ultra blue gasket maker stuff in a few stategic places to hold it there?

Hmm ok.. well I dont have any Hylomar, is there anything WRONG with using blue RTV silicone stuff?

I assume not.. I've done one like this now, and it's sticking enough to not move.. just put the housing on the front iron then.

Should I go buy some Hylomar tomorrow and use that for the rest? or will silicone work fine?

Vasoline works well too, a lot of guys use it as well

I glue the "O" rings into the housing with good old GE 100% silicone caulk. You can get it anywhere, and it is dirt cheap.

Turn the completed engine over a few times and remove any excess silicone through the exhaust ports.

So am I going to have any problems with using this silicone stuff?

Lynn E. Hanover, have you ever had any probs doing it this way?

I'd rather not go out and buy a bottle of hylomar if I don't _have_ to.......

I've basically put the engine together now with silicone RTV stuff, and they looked good and in place when I did it all, so this is now just info for when I rebuild my next engine(as if i've already learnt so much its just comical).

I've heard of people have bad experiences with hylomar, it not being 'sticky' enough to hold the seals in place?

I just use vasoline. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png
