Okay, so there are a few things I noticed that are different than the last time I did it. I'm wondering if they're problems or not.

First of all, here is a picture of one of my rotors. Is this much carbon normal? There was a lot last time, but the engine was siezed and it had been sitting for several years. I don't know what happened to it.

Next, on my e-shaft there is a bit of a rough spot where one of the bearings sits. You can't see it very well in the picture, but I can feel it a bit when I rub my finger of it. Anyone know what would have caused this, and is it okay to reuse the e-shaft? I don't really want to or have the funds to buy another one.

Next, there is a bit of a "scratch" on my rear iron. This scratch is on both sides of the iron. Strange thing is it is vertical, and not really following any of the lines on the iron. Any ideas what could have caused this, and would it be a problem? Again, I was hoping to be able to reuse all of my engine parts.

I forgot to take a picture for the 4th question. It was asked in another thread though, but there wasn't a solid answer. Basically, my exhaust ports are white. Some said that was normal. Others said it meant the engine was running lean. Does anyone have a definitive answer? I'd like to know if I have any potential problems to look for after I put everything back together.

Thanks for your help guys. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

e-shaft is junk, the rear iron you can lap

1. thats about the normal amount of carbon, it doesnt matter

2. find a better eshaft, looks like you had some crap go thru the motor?

3. normal wear, if you can catch a fingernail on it, you should lap/replace the housing

4. i looked at a pair of t2 housings i have yesterday and they are white, came from a decent running car, i would consider that normal

Carbon amount looks normal.

Eshaft is screwed.

Check sidestep of the sideseal wear on that plate. If its more than 0.0039(check fsm) then you should have it lapped.

Hmmm... I guess I better start looking for a good used e-shaft then. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...O_DIR#>/11.gif Thanks for your help guys.

yeah they usually come out looking new. i would also look really hard at the bearings, if it messed up the shaft there might be more damage. or to put it another way, the bearings are softer so they take the damage, instead of the shaft

They seem to be going for around $40-50 on the evil forum. So I guess it's not that bad. Better than replacing an iron. Hopefully I won't have to do that. I'll find out soon I guess. I just ordered a dial indicator and magnetic base today.

I've got 3 laying around https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png Not worth selling IMO. Having spare engine parts on hand is nice https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png
