Thought i'd post here to see if anyone can pick up on something ive missed.

I rebuilt my s5 13bt & it was fine on 1st start, ran it up the street & back & all seemed fine.

I went away for a few weeks over xmas, Started it when I came back & it smoked badly... after some checking I removed the gate & found the exhaust manifold to be coated in oil. Pulled turbo manifold off & rear rotor has been blowing oil, a lot of oil.

So thinking about what has gone wrong I figured I probably have mixed up the assembled rotors & installed the front rotor as the rear etc. & hence oil control springs are on wrong sides & failing.

This engine I had the front & rear irons surface ground, new oem oil control ring casings & new oem oil control o-rings.

So I pulled the engine & stripped it tonight. Expecting to find oil control springs ass about. Nope. they are right & still in place in their notches. O-rings look fine.

So now im stumped. Any ideas?

Do you have a picture of the ports?

Could be that someone ported into the OCR path

Hi,

Check your oil seals. Make sure you did not pinched them by accident..... Check the oil seals for any cracks, that would cause the oil to bypass and smoke....Are you using viton oil seals? If so, these vitons fit really tight and sometimes causes them to be stuck in the down position...which would also cause oil leaking thru.

Good luck..

Intake ports are fine, no porting on the inside edge.

The rear rotor rear oil seal casings (new) took some serious wear for the few minutes runtime. I could feel nicks & scratches with the fingernail test.

The o-rings were oem replacements. & appeared fine when disassembled.

I guess the finish on the plates from the surface grinder was too rough.

I ended up blocking the plates with 800 wet & replaced the rear rotors rear oil rings with some in spec used ones.

Hopefully thats sorted the problem.
