I have been very hesitant to post these images here, but I figured I need the input on what I have done. Learning from several local builders and what I have learned on here I have gone ahead and used my very simple Dremal multi tool to port the spare 13b motor I have.

These are spare or bad ports, so ignore the scratches.





This is my first attempt at exhaust porting. I just free handed it. The 2mm of material was removed all the way around the port, and then the 2mm factory bevil was restored.

I have since improved my technique as shown later in my 2nd attempt.



The front plate. Little big on the port, port has been rounded at the top and sideseal and corner seal clearance has been checked.



The rear plate, early stage of port not yet cleaned up yet.

After a bit of work, the ports have all the roughed in.

Lynn E Hanover posted a nice pic which explaind the closing line of the intake port. he stated that the upper part of the closing side shouldn't be rounded like yours.

this will pinch the trailing edge of the side seal. or dou yoe mean by "sideseal clearance has been checked" that the seal doesn't even "fall" into the port?

I will definitly look into that, I will also get some better photos. That port significatly changed since that picture was taken. You can kind of tell by the later pictures, but I will get one and see what you guys think.



Let me know if there is any thing else I should change or should clarify.

Nice job with the exhaust ports. Polish them up real good with a sanding drum then tape around the port and use a strip of sand paper and a steady finger to get in there good. Polish it up with some 600 grit them use some heavy duty paint scratch remover (turtle wax makes some good stuff, get the red clay looking stuff in the plastic can with the red cap).

You could go bigger towards the bottom, if you compare urs with mine u'll see. I coppied Karen's (mabe 87 GTR's) picture and went 70mm down from the bottom edge of the top stock bevel. (see pic) And don't go upwards with the port...something to do with timing and increasing turbo lag.

Here's another one of mine. Check it out to see what u need to change on the secondary intake ports. Basically just "swing" the big end around a little more then square it off. Don't forget to round off that edge under the outer edge of the port where the intake runner makes the 90 degree turn. Smooth that out good so its almost like a wedge...but with a rounded tip.
