ideas on doing a T2 swap

I just bought a 86 FC and of corse that year they didnt have a T2 model. My GXL came with brembos and LSD. I wana swap the car to a T2. I can get a full swap with ecm/harness/trans for under $1000 but it has no compression. Average swap goes anywhere from 1200-1700. I wana be able to beat the s**t out of the car and eventually make it a race car so would it be better to buy the cheaper one with no compression and put the ALS seals and maybe some better rotors in it and go through it or is there something else that could be wrong with it I'm not aware of Not asking for a diagnosis of something i havent seen just if there's another issue that could cause the compression problem aside from a broken apex seal (which could just be froze up and need some wd40 treatment) or a damaged rotor/housing

Good learning experience if you're doing it yourself. If not, sell the current car and get a turbo II instead, it'll be much easier to deal with.

Going with a race car, you will probably upgrade everything anyways, the brembo brakes and LSD will either need to be looked after/rebuilt/swapped. So realistic speaking, I don't see how that would be beneficial; unless you want to stick with NA power, then either bridgeport or peripheral port would be the ultimate option for you with the racing route.

If it's just street driving and weekend warrior... either don't do extensive mods and keep the car NA, or buy a turbo II instead and go from there.

well i've been looking into it and with a $1500 swap even if i dont go into the engine and keep it stock ontop of the $1600 I spent for the car and the fact that it's showroom quality mint condition I could sell it for more than what i've got in it since most t2's around here are going for $4000 in similar of not worse condition. Plus i'm a gearhead I love tearing into engines and taking things apart. I plan to make it a streetable autocross car / weekend warrior. Maybe do some drifting to show up the 240 guys i work with since they talk s**t about rotaries. I'm not going full race or i'd have bought a $500 car with no title or engine lol But if i go T2 i'll wana modify the turbo setup so i'd wana be sure the engine is able to handle the extra boost and high RPMs

The engine can handle extra boost and high RPMs, the key is to upgrade everything else to really support the higher output power. Here is something you can reference and think about: FC3S Pro v2.0: From Mild 2 Wild - Power

The important thing is still with what your goals are: The power, the handling, the overall balance, what you want to do with the car.

If you can get the swap done properly, and learn everything at it, by all means do it, cause that will be a great experience. However, if you just want to do the swap, make the car faster, and show the 240 guys what you've done or who's boss.... then you may very likely end up with a half-finished vehicle that have compromises everywhere, and in the end you will not be entirely happy with it.

Id prefer to keep the balance of the car and make something fun for me and fits me. who cares if it can outrun everyone in town. As it is NA it can already outrun my 06 SER sentra with 180 hp and there isnt much that can keep up with it in the corners either with it's DTSS

Then it's really up to you whether you want to go through the whole process of making it turbo. The NA is very balanced for DD and weekend track when you get all the components upgraded.

DTSS wise... personally I don't like it cause it makes the car a bit unpredictable during hard cornering. There is an eliminator bushing available.

It makes hwy driving especially on windy days annoying but for having fun and cornering once you realize how it works i could probably hold my own with subys in corners. I have to admit it freaked me out at first
