Ok here is the question, i asked this at teamfc3s.org/forum a while back but didn't get much feedback, i guess not too many peole know.

But basically... what components wheather from 20B, 13BRE, 13BREW, s4 13BT, 13B nA, etc can be used to assembled a S5 13BT engine.

i.e. is it advantageous to use FD side housings? or its rotors? they are the same weight as the S5 13BT's i believe.

can u use the irons from the FD for the s5 13BT?

thanks for all the advice/help.

the majority of the parts are interchangeable, you probably didnt get any responses because it's too vague a question... you can make hybrid motors mixing most of the 13b parts from all of the series, as long as you keep in check with the rotational assemblies balance. (if you use S5 NA rotors make sure to sue the matching CW's etc..)

Yor will have to keep a Balance, I built an Engine using 13b-re (cosmo) primary plates,S5 center,13b-rew (third gen) housings and a S5 E-shaft.

The things you have to keep are the plate with the Engine mounts on (second gen center) and the E-shaft to match your pullys and Stationry gears.

You'll find that Rx bits are very interchangable but things like Rotors are not much diffrent. I like the cosmo plates as they where very simalar to the stock S5 ones with the biggest runners of any rx (just needed some messing to get the inlet to fit right).

Hope this helps.........Chris

i've also heard its nice to have the fd rotor housings

i think an 84-85 13b e shaft would be best

is this just due to lack of thermo-pellet?

j9fd3s 01-09-2003 01:43 PM

yup, i hate the thermal pellet

A bag of washers sorts that problem out.

I never did get why Mazda thought it was a good idea to bypass the oil system like that?
