Hylomar is a repackaged product by PERMATEX. When they were given a MASSIVE price increase by the company that makes it, PERMATEX chose to discontinue carrying it.

It can be ordered from here:

http://www.valco-cp.com/catalog_category.aspx?cat_id=9

In 12 oz aerosols, 5 oz aerosol 1.5 oz tube and 250ml brush top.

THERE IS NO LACK OF SUPPLY

I will also have it available for those who can't source it.

Hylomar is wonderful stuff. It seals well, yet stays gluey. Cleanup requires a little carb cleaner and very little elbow grease, and zero scraping and wire wheeling. I use it all the time on intake manifold gaskets and valve cover gaskets, and 90 percent of the time those gaskets can be reused too.

The problem with other types of sealant is that they either run right out again, or they take a hard set and make disassembly and cleaning much less enjoyable.

Thanks for the link. I tried this many years ago before it was popular, got old product and the can was flat. I finally gave up and went to Permatex form-a-gasket. I always thought that Hylomar would be a superior product though.

By using Hylomar my gaskets are ready to go on to their 4th rebuild!

Hyper4mance2k 02-22-2006 03:03 AM

mazdatrix still carries it too.

No more hylomar in stores period, only online. I've been using bearing grease and Permatex ultra black for bottom corners fo about 4 months. so far so good.
