Are there any ill-effects on the irons' engine coating when having them hot-tanked?



I'm getting ready to rebuild an engine, and if possible would like to have some non-aluminum engine parts (IE: irons, stationary gears, rotors & possibly e-shaft) hot-tanked, to get them as clean as possible.



Assuming I replace the rotor, and stationary bearings (along w/ polishing the e-shaft journals, and rotor faces) there wouldn't be any issues, would there?

sorry what do you mean by "hot-tanking"?

It's a service performed at pretty much any machine shop; most commonly done to engine blocks. They drop the peices in a cage, and drop the cage into a vat of hot chemicals to clean this **** outta em'. Commonly called chem-dipping or the like...





I take it you've had irons tank'ed before Banzai?
