now this may sound stupid to sum but could you run more than 10:1 compression if you welded the bathtub?

Welding the rotors will warp them, let alone you need to find a good welder to do it as they are cast steel.

More compression = less intake, not much but less.

MIG welding cast steel is not advisable, you need some special "arch weld" electrode as far as i know.



The compression difference/balance/cost wont be worth it, just get regular renesis rotors and port, bevel or boost some more.

its a lot of work to go from 9.7 to 10, its not a very big change. plus renny rotors are already 10:1

i know that renisis rotars are 10:1 i want to go higher than that say 11:1-12:1.

if you look at any pemarmance na piston engine they all raise comp.

i know it would be hard and expensive but look at the differance it made from 9.7:1 to 10:1.

if you can do it with boost why cant you do it with more comp?

i know that it would be hard to tune and need higher octane fuel but in my mine it would be the

ULTIMATE na 13b combined with pp of corse.

Hey mate i wouldnt weld any thing cast if your gonna do it metal is gonna move an warp but the only way id build up a cast object is by metal spraying it the metal will still move an warp but a far better option then welding it i wouldnt advise doing it run rx8 rotors.

Even if it were possible, it would be a bad idea. Due to the design of the rotary engine all of the mixture needs to squeeze between the tub in the rotor and the rotor housing near the spark plugs. If there isnt enough room, i.e. higher compression the flame front will get snuffed out by the rotor and you will have massive misfire.



That is why the rotary engine isnt compression regulated by detonation like reciprocating engines.

mazda research shows that going up from 10:1 in compression makes the tub shape unefficient for power. its in the sae papers.

Did mazda actualy play with the tub alot with the rx8 rotors or is most of the compresion gained by moving the corner seals?
