need for heat no longer applies to the fd im preppin for track..

lookin to get some options on how to plug the coolant passages from the block to the heater..

threadin and cappin with bolt on the housing is a better option imho...

than just pluggin the nipples on both ends with a rubber cap ..

any other suggestions....dont want to loop btw..

for those askin on the advantages and reasoning..

weight and less coolant failure points are my motives...

back in the day the housings were threaded, and you could buy a bolt to block it off. you can still get the bolt, racing beat lists it

I wonder if you could buy a tap to match the bolt and start tapping threads in the housing without taking the engine apart? Just run a continuous flow of water into the engine so it'll flow out of the hole and carry metal debris away.



Or you could find a freeze plug... probably. 18 or 20mm?

I have squeezed the tube end together and welded it shut, worked very well, but hard to do with the motor in the car. I also tapped the hole (3/8" NPT) for a plug but one has to be very careful as the edge of the hole is very close to the housing sealing surface, very easy to go too far. You can tap it withpout taking the motor apart, just put a large quantity of grease in the grooves of the tap. The grease will hold the chips created by tap.
