This is probably a stupid question but I,m building a 13B with 48 IDA, why do I need a 1/2 inch fuel line if all the fuel is going through a 3 mm needle and seat, and could I fit a fuel surge tank up the front of the car and run a 1/2 inch line from there?

Probably the same reason why you water grass with a 1" hose through a little tiny nozzle.

Injected cars use 3/8 line, so 1/2 sounds big, but I'm not a carb guy. Maybe because of the lower line pressure requres more flow.

I have a 5/16" ID line from two pumps on the fuel cell up to a regulator beside the engine. Then a 1/4"

ID line to the carb. Pressure is 7 PSI which is all the stock float can handle.

Never a problem.
