So I got a gear puller and all that, got a spacer soas not to damage the bearing. I tightened it down til it ripped the threads off the bolts, so I got new ones, tightened it down (but not as much as before) and tapped it a few times with the hammer to no avail. So I figured I'd spray some PB Blaster on it and let it sit over night (with gear puller on and torqued), no dice. I've tried everything I could think of minus heating it (no torch) all to no avail.

Anyone have a trick to getting these things off? The nut came off easy, but the flywheel is a whole diff. story.

Thanks guys,

Marc

vosko style.

grab a large hunk of wood, and start whacking the **** out of the flywheel.

worked like a charm

remember to leave the nut on a little bit, the flywheel will head for your toes like a tornado to a trailer park

Big ass peice of Birch fire wood. Gloves. Crawl underneth car. Put flywheel nut on loosely.

Smash **** out of firewood and flywheel. Flywheel came off like a used condom without a scratch

Listen to them. Put that nut back on while your wacking it. I had my engine out and I tired to pull the flywheel. I wacked it for a long time and I finally got it out and the flywheel fell on my leg slighting. It hurts. Take Caution! GOOD LUCK

I use an acetylene torch, applying heat to the flywheel around the e-shaft.

Then just give it a kind slap with a dead blow hammer, spoiinggg and its off.

Only downside it that the orange engineseal will need replacement afterwards

if you must use and puller. You just install the puller. Tighten it down to preload the flywheel. Then take a ball peen hammer and hit the edge of the flywheel just inside of the ring gear. THe PING... vibrating sound will take it off it's taper. THe puller isn't meant to purely pull it of by you reefing on it.
