How much do a torque the flywheel bolts down to?

Hopefully someone who isn't at Rotorfest will be able to give me a number so that I can get this puppy in the car today!

Just so you know, it's a 13b Cosmo w/ S4 TII tranny and ACT StreetLite Flywheel. Of course the instructions for the flywheel say to check the FSM. Hehe.

I tightened them up pretty tight. I did check the FSM.

I'll check again for you.

45 ft/lbs

or

6.2 m/kg

each!

That's assuming your talking about the 6 14mm bolts to the flywheel counterweight.

The flywheel nut itself is 54mm and should be torqued to around 300 ft/lbs

Dysfnctnl85 06-27-2004 01:04 PM

Excellent, yeah I was talking about the 6 14mm'ers. Thanks for the info. The counterweight isn't going anywhere so I don't think I'll have to worry about it.

The next thing is the big 19mm mofo. I assume 300ft/lbs for that thing to?

How am I going to even come close to knowing that? My torque wrench only goes to 150!

If you have a strong impact gun you can just use that. A torque wrench that will do 300 ft-lbs. will be expensive!

Geez, where do you people get your torque info from?

RB recommends 28ft lbs for the 14mm bolts with the 10mm x 1.25 thread. As for the pressure plate, RB says 14ft lbs (yep, only 14!).

60-80 (or 90) for the 19mm mofo, or whatever the FSM says. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/happy.png

Hmmm...I trust RB more than Mazda, LOL. I think I'll go with those recommendations. Thanks!

How do you remove the release bearing? I don't want to break anything!

Jeff20B 06-27-2004 02:20 PM

If it's anything like what I call the 'throwout bearing' on an SA or ribcase tranny, the fork can be lifted up to pop it off the little mushroom shaped pedestal thing at the back of the bellhousing. It is held on by two spring fingers.

Yours should be similar to the SA '79 tranny I recently messed with. I'm sure others would be able to explain it better.
