My 3rd gen 7's leaking a little water, using about a cupfull on journeys. I'd like to attempt to rebuild myself, but I'm unsure what parts I may need. It's done 30,000km from new and I'm hoping I'll need only replace the water seals. If I take it apart are there any other parts that I should replace or can I screw it all back together and hope it works?

Cheers,

H.

Look at the Rotary Aviation website because they have 2 types of rebuild kits on there. One with everything and the other with not as much:) I would imagine that if everything is working fine right now you will just need to replace oil seals, coolant gaskets, etc..

At 30000km it shouldnt be leaking water internally unless its been overheated.

I would be lookind around the outside of the engine and radiator to try and find the source of the water loss before I would tear out the engine. It may be as simple as a defective radiator cap.

yea what he said, check all the hoses that have coolant traveling in them then your heater core and such.

if u do decide to rip appart the engine u must use your own judging what is good and what is not, but u should replace all springs, such as apex seal springs, side seal springs and corner seal springs. maybe get new orings? and u will need new water seals. you can buy a kit from atkins that freshens up the engine at www.atkinsrotary.com

Good luck on your first rebuild, take your time and make everything perfect!

talk to the people at either atkins or pineappleracing. Either would be really helpful. check hoses, seals, gaskets, etc.

goodluck

Has it always had good coolant in it?

It's not unheard of for the rotor housings to corrode to the point where they leak past the seal within that sort of mileage.

But as the others said, check all the easy options first! (And check the coolant level sensor and also heater core as they crack and leak too)

Good luck! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/blush.png
