I want to take the motor out without the tranny, can i just remove the bell housing bolts and take it out?

idk but i heard of alignment problems with the input shaft of the trans when trying to do this. i have just recently pulled my engine and trans together with no problems. i am also doing this with the help of a fello forum member, which had recommened the process. i mean if you have someone to help you put it back in with trans you shouldnt have a problem and i believe it is easier to do it together because ive done a transmission swap to my tII in had a hell of a time aligning every thing with just the trans out i can only imagine trying to do it with the engine.

I usually just remove the engine mount bolts, disconnect the starter, etc and take out the bellhousing bolts. Then I take a bolt and flip it around and place it baci into the engine so that I have a place to connect my lifting chain. And BAM there ya go.

Installation is not that bad. Put her in(make sure it is aligned, you can use the engine mounts) then use the bolts to slowly pull the engine to the tranny. Kind of like what you do with a tire...

Hope this helps...

Be creative, my lift works great as an engine hoist too. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

I think you ought to get a hoist. You can rent one for fairly cheap and you won't need it very long.
